Q: What is PostPaidA:
A postpaid plan is a mobile calling service where you pay a set bill once a month for your mobile services. You do not have to buy pre-paid cards to use the service. Your everyday rates and benefits for postpaid plans are generally more advantageous than that for prepaid services.
Q: How do I Become a Postpaid subscriber?A:
To become a postpaid subscriber you will need the following
- Driver’s License or Passport
- National Insurance Number
- Fill out a BTC postpaid application form
- Security deposit for all packages is $100
You will also have to be in good standing with BTC, meaning that you do not have any past due accounts with BTC.
Q: Where do I go to sign up for the postpaid service?A:
Customers can sign up for postpaid service at any BTC store or BTC Franchise store.
Q: I would like to have Mobile Data (Internet) on my phone as part of my postpaid plan. What do I need to do?A:
First, you would need to ensure that you have a device that is data enabled and has the frequencies and network configuration that works on BTC’s network. As smart technologies become more precise and sophisticated, we strongly recommend that you purchase your device from a BTC store or authorized dealer.
Once you have your data enabled device, you can then choose from a stand alone data plan OR you can choose one of our plans ($59.99* +) which now has data package bundled in the package
To get access to the LTE network, you will need to get an LTE enabled device, a new LTE enabled SIM chip (you can keep your number), and a plan which offers LTE speeds. (For the voice and data bundles, those are the $99.99* and the $139.99*.
See the Data allowances now included in the Top three plans.
*Plans do not include VAT.
Do note that we have “Stand Alone” data plans for you if you do not want a top level postpaid plan or you want more data on top of that which is provided inside the plan. Prices for these monthly plans range from $15** for 500 MB to $70** for 15 GB. LTE plans start at $35** for 3 GB. If you so choose, you can put together the voice and data plans that work for you.
Q: What is this LTE data network you are talking about? How can I get it?A:
The 4G LTE network is the next phase in the evolution of mobile data (internet) networks. The LTE network will provide faster and more consistent speeds than that of the existing 4G network. The LTE network will be deployed in phases throughout the country. The initial deployment is expected to be soft-launched in New Providence in December 2013. This will be followed by Grand Bahama and select Family Islands in early 2014. Note that even on islands where it is deployed, LTE service may not be available everywhere on the island. Check BTC coverage maps that will be updated as more LTE sites come online.
If you live in a community that has LTE coverage, you will also need the following if you are a postpaid customer: 1) An LTE enabled device, which will likely mean that you will need to purchase a new device; 2) An LTE enabled SIM chip. You will be able to keep your number, BUT your SIM chip will have to be changed out to enable you to access the LTE network; and 3) an LTE data plan.
Q: How is Roaming Different for Postpaid customers?A:
We have many more available roaming partners for postpaid presently than we have for prepaid. Now more than 300. We also have preferred roaming partners for our Caribbean, US and Canadian destinations – the most destinations for Bahamian travellers. See our website for details on roaming and roaming charges.
