BTC to serve as the Platinum sponsor at Red Cross Ball

Company also provides Christmas donations to 22 organizations

Nassau, The Bahamas, December 15, 2022: The 49th annual Red Cross Ball is back on the social calendar, and The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) will serve as the Platinum sponsor of this highly anticipated event slated for January 28th, 2023.

“The Red Cross plays an integral part in our society. For decades, they have demonstrated their commitment to serving the most vulnerable in our communities. Over the years, BTC has not only supported previous Red Cross Balls, but our team has also worked closely with the society to offer our assistance to several relief initiatives,” said BTC’s CEO Sameer Bhatti. “We are aware that the Ball is the society’s largest fundraiser, so BTC was fully onboard to lend our support because there is always a need for the Red Cross to assist others. We therefore look forward to a great showing at next month’s Ball, and we are indeed elated to partner with the Red Cross.”

Alicia Pinder, Director General of The Bahamas Red Cross Society says they are pleased to have BTC serve as a Platinum sponsor. “It is very important to have corporate citizens like BTC join with us as we embark on this huge fundraiser,” Pinder says. “BTC’s sponsorship will go a long way to help us with many community projects and it will also allow us to help the most vulnerable in our community, so we are quite delighted with this partnership. We know that this Ball will be promising and exciting.”

BTC has teamed up with the Red Cross over the years to support a number of their initiatives including the Meals on Wheels program. During the pandemic, BTC has chipped in and helped to package food parcels for shipment across the country.

The 49th Red Cross Ball, held under the theme, “We Balling, Lights, Camera, Action” will be held at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, and Ball planners are estimating that at least 500-600 guests will be in attendance. The Ball will feature the Lou Adams Orchestra, The Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band, and an array of entertainment and grand giveaways. Ball organizers will also posthumously recognize the late philanthropist Cindy Williams-Rahming as an individual Ball honouree.

Meanwhile, in addition to serving as a Platinum sponsor for the Red Cross Ball, BTC has also given monetary Christmas donations to 22 organizations to spread Christmas cheer and support their ongoing efforts. These entities include: The South Andros Senior Citizens Home, Grand Bahama Children’s Home, Kiwanis Club of Freeport, Reach Out Youth Organization, Falcon Boys Club, The Beacon School, Exuma Cancer Society, Moore’s Island annual Christmas party, Friendship Tabernacle Church, San Salvador Cancer Society, Old Bight Mission Home, Kiwanis Club of Eleuthera, Betsy Bay Social Club, Mack Knowles Jr. Sailing Club, Red Cross Crooked Island branch, Red Cross Acklins branch, Great Commission Ministries, Kiwanis Club A.M., Children’s Emergency Hostel, Unity House, Families of all Murder Victims (FOAM) and the Salvation Army.

“At BTC, our corporate social responsibility efforts are always stretched far and wide,” said the company’s CEO. “We wanted to share the holiday spirit with as many organizations as we could, and we’ve provided donations for more than twenty-two charities. We are hopeful that these donations will allow these organizations to extend their arms in the community and assist those in need. All year round, we believe that heart is more than something we have, it’s something we share.”
